Evanston Police Investigating Overnight Shooting

Des Plaines man shot while walking on Lyons St. was treated and released from the hospital and is reportedly not cooperating with police; police believe incident could be gang related.

Evanston Police believe an overnight shooting in the 1800 block of Lyons St. was gang related, according to a press release from the department. 

The release states that at 12:30 a.m., a 9-1-1 call came in regarding multiple shots fired and a person shot. 

The victim, a 20-year-old man from Des Plaines, was shot twice in the lower extremities and discovered by police lying on the ground in front of a home on Lyons St.

The release states he was shot as he walked with three other individuals. The unknown shooter left the scene on foot. 

After being transported to Evanston/North Shore University Hospital, the victim was treated an ultimately released.

Evanston Police say they suspect the shooting was gang related, and the victim is currently not cooperating with the investigation.

Police are continuing to collect evidence through interviews and working leads as the investigation continues.
