Free Workshop for Nonprofits: Making Sense of the Census

The Evanston Community Foundation and the Evanston Public Library are co-sponsoring a workshop for nonprofit organizations called “Making Sense of the Census”.  The workshop will take place at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington, 1st floor Community Room on Thursday, September 22 from 9:30am to 12:00pm.

The numbers are in from the 2010 U.S. census.  The information collected is more than just a snapshot of our time—it helps to shape our future too.  Workshop participants will learn how to use new census data and information resources to create high impact programming, present a strong case to prospective funders, and plan for the future of our community.  Presenters Steve Laue of the U.S. Census Bureau, Craig Sklenar of the City of Evanston, and Jennie Berkson of the Evanston Public Library will introduce participants to the latest demographics, the newest data tools, and other research resources available.  After gaining new understandings of local trends, nonprofit professionals and volunteer leaders will be better equipped to help our community’s residents and organizations thrive.
