Grab & Go Kids Planner

Check out five activities you can do with your kids this weekend in Evanston.

In its 60th annual production, Brillianteen, a student theatre group under the McGaw YMCA, will perform The Wiz at King Lab School Auditorium for the next two weekends.  Bring your family to the classic fairy-tale recreation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz with rock music. The scheduled performances are as follows: Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 27 at 2 p.m., Mar. 4 at 7:30 p.m., Mar. 5 at 7:30 p.m., and Mar. 7 at 2 p.m.  Adult general admissions tickets are being sold for $15, while children under 13 can purchase tickets for $10.  Tickets can be purchased online or via phone through the Brillianteen Ticket Hotline at 847-475-7400 ext. 277.  

Canine Safety Presentation by Tail Waggin Tutors

Come this Saturday, Feb. 26 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to a presentation on canine safety at the Evanston Public Library North Branch. A perfect event for kids of all ages, Tail Waggin Tutors will teach children how to appropriately greet dogs, treat lost dogs, and understand canine language.

Play Literacy: Construction

Play literacy is a great program for children between the ages of 3 and 6 located at the Evanston Main Public Library this Saturday, Feb. 26 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Children will play construction, learning how to design a building and then construct the building they designed. 

Danceworks

Looking for a more sophisticated activity to do with the whole family? Northwestern student dancers are fusing jump rhythm jazz, ballet, modern dance and contemporary dance forms together for an original show. The scheduled performances are as follows: Feb. 25 and 26 at 8 p.m., Feb. 27 at 2 p.m., Mar. 3, 4 and 5 at 8 p.m., and Mar. 7 at 2 p.m.  Tickets are being sold for $20 to the general public, and $10 to Northwestern students.

4th Annual Bowling Night

The Associate Board of the NorthShore University HealthSystem will host its 4th Annual Bowling Night this Friday, Feb. 25 from 8 to 11 p.m.  Though this event might be a little late for younger children, bring your teenage kids with you for some bowling and food.  Tickets cost $25 for Associate Board members, and $35 dollars for non-members.  For adults, this price includes the open bar.  All proceeds will go to the Infant Speial Care Unit (ISCU) at the NorthShore Evanston Hospital.
