The Evanston billionaire, who made a failed bid to purchase the city's Harley-Clarke Mansion, announced she would identify as a woman in August.

3. Man, 30, Shot and Killed on Darrow
Floyd Gibert, 30, of the 2000 block of Ashland Avenue, was shot and killed in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue on Dec. 7. 

4. Northwestern Students In Jordan Hope U.S. Doesn't Strike Syria
When the U.S. was considering a military strike on Syria in September, Patch talked to two Northwestern students in Jordan. 

5. Brothers Shot to Death in Downtown Evanston Tobacco Store
Mobeen and Azim Hakeem, both Evanston residents, were found shot to death in their family tobacco store this July. Police announced in December that they had were considering a serial bank robber shot and killed by police as the "primary suspect" in the Hakeem's murders.

6. Northwestern Student Seeks Help for Life-Saving Transplant
19-year-old Northwestern University sophomore Josie Nordman needed a lung transplant to survive, but her family couldn’t foot the $75,000 bill on their own. Nordman received a successful lung transplant in July.

8. When Is Trader Joe's Opening in Evanston? We've Got a Date.
Trader Joe's finally opened its doors on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 1211 Chicago Ave. in Evanston. The store's first two customers camped out overnight.

9. Evanston Man, 20, Shot Near ETHS
A 20-year-old Evanston man was shot multiple times near Evanston Township High School on Saturday, Nov. 9. He was treated and released at St. Francis Hospital.

10. Former Evanston Resident Charged in Saturday's Homicide
Police charged Dominic Connerly, 22, a former Evanston resident living in Zion, with the shooting death of Floyd Gibert, 30.
