Quick Guide to Evanston 4th of July Events

Enjoy the holiday!

Happy July 4! If you're still looking for ways to celebrate the holiday, here's a list of local events:

Parade: 2 p.m., route goes along Central Street from Central Park Avenue East on Central Street to Ashland Avenue. Spots can be reserved in advance by placing lawn chairs or blankets along the route, avoiding sidewalks. The city does not take responsibility for items left out prior to the parade.

Concert: 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Palatine Concert Band will play patriotic music at Dawes Park, Sheridan Rd. at Church St.

Fireworks: 9:15 p.m. at Clark Street Beach. The show is choreographed to music  that can be heard on 90.5FM. Fireworks can be viewed from most lakefront parks and beaches.

Family sports events from 9 a.m. to noon at Elks Park; Lincolnwood and Willard Schools; and Robert Crown Center, as well as from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fleetwood-Jourdain Center.

The finals of the citywide tennis tournament are held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ackerman Park, Central St. at McDaniel.
