Summer Construction in Evanston

Evanston will be resurfacing 17 streets and replacing water mains on five of them. Check out a map of the construction: blue - water main; red - phase 1 of street resurfacing; black - phase 2 of street resurfacing.

Contractors working for the City of Evanston will be resurfacing 17 streets and replacing water mains on five of them starting June 17, according to the city’s website.

The water main replacement project is expected to continue for 14 weeks and will take place on the following streets:

  • Lake Street (McDaniel Ave. to Pitner Ave.)
  • McDaniel Avenue (Lake St. to Church St.)
  • Central Street (Sherman Ave. to Sheridan Rd.)
  • Church Street (Chicago Ave. to Hinman Ave.)
  • Wesley Avenue (Simpson St. to Leonard Pl.)

The project includes replacing existing deteriorated water main with new ductile iron pipe and replacing existing water services.

The city has contracted Glenbrook Excavating & Concrete Inc. if Wauconda for this project and the resident engineer will be Angeleo Alonzo, Jr. Residents with questions or concerns can reach him at 847-448-4311.

The street resurfacing project is expected to run for eight weeks starting June 17 and will be done in two phases.

Phase 1 Streets:

  • Forest Avenue (Keeney St. to Kedzie St)
  • Greenleaf Street (Chicago Ave. to Hinman Ave.)
  • Oak Avenue ( Greenleaf St. to Crain St.)
  • Lee Street (Michigan Avenue to Sheridan Road)
  • Washington Street (Dewey Ave. to Asbury Ave.)
  • Washington Street (Ridge Ave. to Chicago Ave.)

Phase 2 Streets:

  • Elinor Place (Ashland Ave. to Wesley Ave.)
  • Forestview Road (Grant St. to Colfax St.)
  • Lake Street (Elmwood Ave. to Sherman Ave.)
  • McDaniel Avenue (Church St. to Lyons St.)
  • Princeton Avenue (Central St. to Dead End North)
  • Sherman Avenue (Greenwood St. to Lake St.)

The streets will get curb replacement as needed, roadway base repair, asphalt surface replacement from curb to curb along with selected sidewalk replacement and driveway aprons.

Construction will begin the week of June 17 on several street segments, with the entire project expected to be fully completed by early August. No parking signs will be posted 48 hours before the start of construction on streets.

The city has contracted Chicagoland Paving COntractors Inc of Lake Zurich for this project and the resident engineer will be Pankaj Chokshi, who can be reached at 847-448-4311.
