Swimming Program Expands to 5 Schools, 2 Pools

The donor-funded program aims to teach Evanston second-graders how to swim.

A pilot donor-funded program aimed at teaching Evanston second-graders how to swim is planning to expand next year to five more schools—Lincolnwood, Lincoln and Walker elementary schools and the King Lab and Bessie Rhodes magnet schools—and use two more swimming pools at Presbyterian Homes and Three Crowns Park retirement communities, Evanston Now reported.

About 124 or 58 percent of the eligible students from the current three schools participated in the pilot program and next year an estimated 530 eligible second-graders will use the two additional pools, Evanston Now reported.
