VIDEO: Farmhouse Tavern Celebrates Opening with Ribbon-Cutting

Mayor Tisdahl welcomed Farmhouse Tavern at 703 Church St. to Evanston with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday.

As hungry customers eagerly filed into Farmhouse for an early dinner or after work drink Wednesday evening, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl joined Farmhouse owner TJ Callahan in cutting the ribbon to welcome Farmhouse, 703 Church St., to Evanston.

Since Farmhouse’s opening on July 10, Callahan said he couldn’t be happier with the community’s response. “When you look at a city like Evanston, one that is so energized, that brings great local farmers… it seems to be a perfect fit,” Callahan said. “While you got a lot of great restaurants here in Evanston, no one’s doing exactly what we are… [Farmhouse] really almost seems like a country kind of spot.”

First Ward Alderman Judy Fiske agreed, and she said she is excited to have Farmhouse in her ward. “It’s wonderful to have this location filled with something that is so welcoming,” she said. “We love the corner. We love T.J. Everything is just so interesting and evocative of what their mission really is.”
