A Musical Showcase

For the past 7 years, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Evanston has presented a spring musical event focusing on and supporting the youth programs at St. Paul’s.  The event started as a solo recital given by St. Paul’s member Harvey Wolf, a former professional child musical theatre performer.  “The youth are our present AND future.  Supporting their dreams and goals is critical for faith formation.”  Due to the great response, the first event funded youth performing with The Lutheran Youth Choir of North America.   The event brought together diverse individuals and groups from Evanston and the area communities in support of faith-based youth activities.

On May 12th, Harvey Wolf will produce A Spring Musical Showcase fundraiser to support St. Paul’s youth programs.  “This year we hope to reach out more than ever to our community in Evanston and beyond.  We want to show what is possible when very talented vocal and instrumental musicians get together and highlight the true meaning of collaborative ministry for the good of others.”    The event will feature Dr. Kurt Westerberg of DePaul University School of Music, Renee Westerberg, Nicholas Marotta, Marshall Back, and a host of professional musicians and entertainers showcasing music from classical, jazz, pop, and musical theatre genres.   Wolf said, “The acoustics in the sanctuary of St. Paul’s are amazing.  The professional singers and musicians at St. Paul’s are dynamite.  We are so blessed they are willing to share their talents with our extended community.”   The performance is Saturday May 12th at St. Paul’s.  The doors open at 7:30 p.m. for refreshments with the performance beginning at 8:00 p.m.  St. Paul’s is on the corner of Greenwood and Maple Streets in Evanston, Illinois.
