Writer/musician Josh Alan Friedman (TALES OF TIMES SQUARE, TELL THE TRUTH UNTIL THEY BLEED) brings his new book BLACK CRACKER to Evanston and the venerable Bookman’s Alley on March 25 for “Black Friday,” a freewheeling evening of readings from BLACK CRACKER and a live set of music featuring Josh Alan’s trademark “atomic acoustic guitar” sound.
BLACK CRACKER is an irreverent chronicle of Friedman's childhood as the lone white boy at New York’s last segregated school in the early 1960s. It's hard-hitting, heartbreakingly honest and hysterically funny — often all at once.
Following his appearance in Evanston, Josh will present BLACK CRACKER in Milwaukee (March 28 @ Boswell Book Co.) and Chicago (March 29 @ Quimby’s).
