Central Street Holiday Open House

The Central Street Business Association's Holiday Open House takes place Sunday, December 5, 2010, from Noon – 5:00 p.m.  Central Street incorporates more than 50 merchants and businesses in one of the area's most charming and distinct shopping districts. It's this combination of retail stores and professional services comprised primarily of locally owned, small shops and business that makes this open house event fun and special.
 
Highlights of this year's Holiday Open House offerings and festivities include:
                                     
·         Happy Husky Bakery (2601 Prairie Avenue, www.HappyHuskyBakery.com): The Happy Husky Bakery will raffle off a $500 Dog & Cat Gift Basket for one lucky customer.  Here's how it works, for every $20 purchase, a customer receives a chance at the basket.  Raffle starts on Dec. 1 and the basket will include a $100 Happy Husky Bakery Gift Card.
 
·         The Spice House (1941 Central Street, www.thespicehouse.com) welcomes local book author Anupy Singla.  Her latest book, The Indian Slow Cooker: 50 Healthy, Authentic Easy Recipes, was released in October.  Shoppers will have the opportunity to meet Anupy and sample some of the delicious Indian recipes featured in her book.
 
·         Linz & Vail (2012 Central Street, www.linzandvail.com) kicks off the holiday season with a special Gift Certificate offer: Buy $25 in gift certificates get a $5 gift certificate FREE.  Kids will also have the opportunity to "make and take" a present for Mom or Dad. Linz &Vail provides the canvas frame and paint, parents provide the kid. The cost is $5.00.
 
·         Montoya Fiber Studio (2566 Prairie Avenue, www.montoyafiberstudio.com) will offer holiday treats and many quick gift ideas since it's not too late to knit something for friends and family. Customers will also earn a $10 gift certificate for every $60 they spend on December 5.
 
·         MilleFiori! (1943 Central Street, www.millefioriflorist.com) will donate part of their proceeds from the Open House to Girls Fight Back, an organization that empowers women across the globe through personal safety & self-defense education. They also plan to give a special small gift with purchase.
 
·         Maya Papaya & Tony Macarony (1917 Central Street, www.maya-tony.com) will offer discounts and special deals on holiday merchandise and host a craft workshop where kids can make their own holiday cards and gifts. 
 
·         Lois & Company (2014 Central Street) will celebrate the Open House by offering 20 percent off all clothing.
 
·         G A V I N (1939 Central Street, www.shopgavin.com) will serve up holiday treats along with 20 percent off non sale merchandise and gift wrapping.
 
·         Perennials (2022 Central Street, www.perennialsevanston.com) will give a free seasonal gift with purchase of $30 or more and hold a special raffle.
 
·         Stella: (2116 Central Street, www.stellaevanston.com) invites shoppers to come join the "Stellabration" as the store offers 15 percent off all items during the Open House and a free gift with purchase over $50.
