Evanston History Center's Holiday Open House

Holiday Open House at the Evanston History Center

Join us Sunday, December 12, 2010, from 1PM – 4PM, for the Evanston History Center's Holiday Open House, featuring live classical music, kids' crafts, a performance by musicians Marian McNair and Jim Kendros, light refreshments, the Dawes House dressed up for the holidays, and, new this year, a "Deck the Dawes House Wreath Competition" and silent auction showcasing wreaths designed and contributed by some of the area's most creative and well-loved florists and designers.

Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, and former mayors Lorraine Morton and Joan Barr Smith, will serve as judges in the wreath competition, selecting the wreath that will don the front door of the Dawes House through December 2010. After the judging is completed, the wreaths will be available to the public through a silent auction held during the open house. The wreath judging will take place outdoors on December 12, 2010, from 12:30PM to 1PM at the Dawes House.
The event is free and open to the public.

We will also be accepting donations for our 5th Annual Food Drive during the Holiday Open House. Donations of non-perishable, nutritious food (no glass, please) will be collected at the Dawes House from Thursday, December 9, 2010 through Sunday, December 12, 2010, from 1PM to 4PM each day. All donations benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository and will benefit local area residents.
