From the Mississippi Delta
By Endesha Ida Mae Holland, Ph. D.;
Directed by Tim Rhoze
Delta is an autobiographical work by the late playwright Dr. Endesha Ida Mae Holland. It traces her girlhood from the day of her 11th birthday through her graduation at the University of Minnesota. She journeys through poverty and abuse in the Jim Crow South, becomes an activist in the civil rights movement, cloaks herself in academic achievement and ultimately triumphs as a Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright.
These are just a few memories of a courageous woman as portrayed by three dynamic actresses playing all the characters – black and white, young and old, men and women – who make this world come alive in an eloquently potent and impassioned journey filled with story and song.
