Lyric Opera Lecture: Ariadne auf Naxos

The wealthiest man in Vienna is throwing a party, featuring the world-premiere of a tragic opera in which Ariadne prepares to die on the isle of Naxos .

A song-and-dance show from a comedy troupe is to follow the play, but time grows tight and the host orders the opera and the comedy to take place simultaneously.

This sparkling jewel of an opera adroitly juggles the universal subjects of love, social criticism, and high art.
