 Lake Street Church Invites Public to Warm Up With Music, Pastry, Food, Bid on Getaways to Paris, Florida, Tetons, Vegas, Entertainment, Jewelry, Art February 25 @ 6:30 p.m. 

Evanston, Ill. – Offering some much-needed winter-blues escapism, a band of innovative pie-bakers, vacation-destination-property owners, artists and other congregation members present A Slice of Life Auction and Pie Palooza February 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Street Church of Evanston.

The event includes live music from Handsome Salamander Jazz Trio, silent and live auctionsrefreshments and bargain jewelry bazaar.

The $12 admission includes heavy appetizers and party food, soft drinks, wine, coffee, and selections of home-baked pies, including fruit, Southern Pecan, pumpkin, and Amish Sugar Cream.

Secret family recipes will also be shared.

Among items for auction are vintage figurine, gold and tanzanite jewelry, a five-course dinner at Oceanique,  $50 gift certificates at Koi, and Trattoria D.O.C., tickets for Light Opera Works, Northlight, Piccolo and Next Theatre Company, a Scandanavian Party, a canoe trip, stays in Las Vegas, Paris, the Teton Mountains, Michigan, Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Bonita Springs, Florida, services and art. All proceeds benefit The Lake Street Church and its programs.

Attendees can also bargain hunt among 150 vintage costume and artisan-crafted modern jewelry pieces at a Jewelry Mini Palooza in Room 103 during the silent auction. Most of these items are available for $5 - $15, cash only.

A Burley Tandem bicycle and Nook eReader will also be raffled during the evening.

The event begins at 6:30 in MacLeish Hall with live jazz music, passed appetizers and silent auction. Live auction will be held at 8. Families with children 12 and under entitled to "childcare credit" of 50% discount, or $6/person admission, per child.

The Handsome Salamander Trio features high school senior jazz talents Jack Hanson on piano, Itay Soloman on drums, and Jack Fuller on bass.  

“We wanted to offer a bit of soul-nourishing food and fun to counter the dreary cold of late February,” said event Co-Chair Kim Yee.
