Spex in Evanston holds “Art+Vision” event with paintings by Jim Martin and OLIVER PEOPLES trunk show
CHICAGO – November 18, 2011 – Spex, Chicago’s ‘Best Eyewear Store’* and premier destination for luxury eyewear and sunwear, holds their next “Art+Vision” event with original paintings by artist Jim Martin. The opening reception is on Friday, December 16 from 5-8 pm, at 522 Dempster Street, Evanston, IL, 60202; 847 864 5200. The work will be on view through January 26, 2012. Refreshments and appetizers will be served. A trunk show featuring Oliver Peoples eyewear collection will be previewed during the reception.

Artist Jim Martin has a long and distinguished art career; while attending the Junior School of the Art Institute of Chicago he was recognized four times by Scholastic Magazine and received their National Awards. Currently Mr. Martin is in the broadcast production business; he’s held various roles within the creative department of Draft FCB. Jim has only recently returned to his real passion: painting. When reviewing his current works there is a distinct joyfulness – brightness, reflected in each canvas. Jim Martin’s paintings and graphic works have been recognized and exhibited by several museums including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY and the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Martin is a graduate of Syracuse University and holds a master’s degree from Michigan State in communications.
