ETHS Students Pay $285 in Annual Fees

Evanston Township High School students are expected to pay $285 in annual fees this year.

There are less than two weeks until classes are back in session at Evanston Township High School. In the midst of the back to school chaos, students and parents shouldn’t forget about the annual school fees. 

Evanston Township High School students are expected to pay $285 in annual fees for the 2013-14 school year. Required annual fees have remained consistent with last year’s fees. 

It breaks down into supplemental materials and school administrative fees, which covers handouts, classroom supplies, instructional resource textbooks and health insurance for students at school-related functions ($85), textbook fee ($85), activity fee, which covers athletics, extra-curricular activities and music and art programs ($85), technology fee ($15) and a general fee, which funds field trips and certain graduation costs ($15).

Optional and pay-as-needed fees include drivers education ($50), student CTA riding permit ($5), transcripts ($5), lost ID cards ($10), gym lock fee, though freshmen are supplied with a lock, ($10), student parking ($200) and yearbook ($50).

However, students who are eligible for free or reduced lunches will be required to pay only a $20 annual activity fee, rather than the $285 annual school fee.

According to ETHS spokesperson Takumi Iseda-Williams, ETHS students’ fees will vary, depending on their families’ financial state. To view their fees, each student must sign into his or her personal account on the ETHS website.

The 2013-2014 ETHS list of student fees also notes, “This is a list of student fees -- individual student fees will be calculated at registration based upon individual student schedules.”
