My three Holiday Organizing Tips

Hello from Best Life Organizing,

3 Tips for the month of November:

#1 Evaluate.  When it comes time to take down Halloween decorations evaluate your inventory.  Keep it if it works and know you will use it next year.  Throw it out or donate your broken, ripped or old decorations now.  There is no need to store something for a whole year if you won’t use it. Apply this rule to Christmas and other holidays you celebrate.

#2 One in/ One out.  This tip can apply to a lot of areas of your home.  Let’s stick to just holiday decorations to keep it simple.  If you like to get holiday decorations on sale after the date make sure you get rid of your old ones. Otherwise everything keeps piling up and won’t get used.  Decorations are for being shown and loved. Not for sitting around in a bin if you have too many.

#3 Color code your bins. I like to have my Halloween items in an Orange Bin.  Christmas is Red and Green. You get the idea. Target, Walmart and other retailers sell these colored bins, but only at the time of the holiday.  So stock up when you can.  If you don’t want to invest in colored bins, labeling bins can be just as effective.

I hope you have enjoyed my holiday tips!  My children and I really enjoy decorating. Let your kids help in this process.  It’s fun and lifelong memories can be created in the process.

I can also help you if you need donation recommendations in the Chicago area.

Have a great day and please contact me for any organizational needs.
