It takes a city

On Saturday September 7th, nearly 600 Evanston residents gathered on the rooftop of the city-owned Sherman Plaza Parking structure to support Evanston Township High School Boosters.  The event, Boosterpalooza, raised nearly $45,000 to support fine-arts, music, sports and extra-curricular clubs at ETHS.

The success of this evening came down to one thing – the support of our community. On the rooftop, the guests were treated to magnificent views of Evanston and the lakefront, while enjoying music from four talented bands and delicious refreshments that were made possible by the generous spirit of local businesses, this city, and its people.  As chairs of the committee, we were amazed at the willingness of all to do what was needed to ensure success.

In particular, we would like to thank the City of Evanston, which allowed this diverse group of parents, caregivers, alumni and friends of Evanston Township High SchoolETHS to come together to support our community high school.  From the early support of Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, Alderman Melissa Wynne and the City Council, to the planning of Rickey Voss and Theresa Whittington and on to the on-site support of Martin Lyons, Louis Gergits, Simon Lapidus and Christina Ferguson, we could not have pulled off such a successful event if we had not been helped along the way by City of Evanston.

We would also like to thank our sponsors and donors, the bands, a committee of dedicated volunteers, ETHS leaders, coaches, club-sponsors, and everyone for coming out to support the event. Most of all, we would like to thank the City of Evanston who was withfor being with us every step of the way.
