Another Evanston Bankruptcy: Giordano's

The Chicago-based pizza chain filed for Chapter 11 protection.

Days after Borders filed for bankruptcy and announced it would be closing its Evanston store, another chain with an Evanston location has filed for bankruptcy protection.

Giordano's, a Chicago-based pizza company with a restaurant on Davis Street, sought Chapter 11 protection, saying in court papers it had “an urgent and immediate need for cash to continue to operate.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, Giordano's "owes more than $45 million to lender Fifth Third Bank."
