Evanston Fire Fighters Benevolent Fund Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

Evanston Firefighters Host Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

While firefighters are known for their ability to handle any emergency situation that confronts them, another important survival skill learned in the firehouse is the ability to keep hungry firefighters well-fed and ready to respond.

Next Sunday, October 2nd the general public will get their chance to see these culinary skills put to the test!  From 9am to noon, Evanston Firefighters will smother hunger pangs with mountains of delicious pancakes and extinguish the Sunday blues with gallons of fresh, hot coffee.

This first-annual fundraising event will be held at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, at 1655 Foster Avenue in Evanston, IL.  Tickets for the Pancake Breakfast are only $7, with proceeds going to support the Evanston Fire Fighters Benevolent Fund.

In addition to the delicious breakfast treats generously donated by Whole Foods Market, Evanston Firefighters will also demonstrate emergency response and extrication techniques to remove injured victims from car crashes using the "Jaws of Life" and other rescue tools.  Firefighters will also show how to react to kitchen fires and other household emergencies, along with a chance to see the fire engines up close and talk to firefighters about their profession.

The Evanston Fire Fighters Benevolent Fund provides emergency support for firefighters and their families in times of catastrophic injury or death, or other times of hardship.  The Fund also provides sponsorships for Evanston Youth Baseball Association teams and contributes to "Camp I Am Me," a summer camp for severe burn victims.
