Evanston Dominick's Stores To Be Sold

All Chicago area Dominick's stores are being sold off by their parent company, Safeway.

It appears that changes are coming for Evanston's two Dominick's stores. 

The parent company, Safeway, wants to pull out of the Chicago market within the year, according to a press release. As competition from both higher-end and discount grocery stores mount, the chain has been losing its share of the market, the Chicago Tribune reports

There are currently 72 Dominick's stores in the Chicago area. In Evanston, Dominick's has one store at 2748 Green Bay Road and another at 1910 Dempster St.

The report indicates that the most likely outcome is that the existing stores would be bought up by several different chains and not one buyer.
