Farmhouse Moves Toward Spring Opening

Farmhouse Evanston co-owners Ferdia Doherty and TJ Callahan say they’re hoping for an early May opening at the 5,500-square-foot space in the Hilton Orrington building that formerly housed the sushi restaurant Futami. The Evanston restaurant will be the second location for Doherty and Callahan, who own the Michelin-rated Farmhouse Restaurant located in downtown Chicago. A liquor license application for the restaurant is expected to be heard by the city’s liquor board on Thursday.

Andersonville Galleria Opens Second Location in Evanston

The owners of Andersonville’s Galleria have opened second location in Evanston at 1627 Sherman Ave., featuring arts, photography, jewelry, beauty products and more for sale by local vendors. A grand opening is scheduled for Friday, April 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Galleria features original art and gifts made by more than 40 local artists and specialty retailers, including handmade jewelry, clothing, handbags, bath and body products, candles, ornaments, fine art prints, paintings and photography.

Health and Wellness Store Opens On Sherman

A grand opening is scheduled for Solay Wellness at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the storefront on 1613 Sherman Ave. Founder and CEO Isabella Samovsky sells skin and body care products, pet care products and household cleaning products that use chemical-free salt and essential oils, as well as ionizing salt lamps. 

Home Accessories Store Targets May Opening
Paramour Bungalow, a new home accessories and decor store, is planning a May opening at 812 Dempster St. The store will sell an eclectic selection of tables, decorative pillows, throws, lamps, chairs, clocks, mirrors, artwork, office supplies, knickknacks and other products for the home.

The Keg Shuts Its Doors For Good

After two decades of business, the Keg of Evanston closed its doors on Easter Sunday after the bar’s lease at 810 Grove St., which expired at the end of March, was not renewed by the property ownerEvanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl revoked the popular watering hole’s liquor license in early 2012 because of underage drinking violations, but the Keg remained open while the legal battle dragged on. 

Central Street Cafe Closes; Business For Sale

Evanston’s Central Street Cafe, 2800 Central St., shut its doors for good at the end of March. The bistro-style cafe and retail wine and cheese shop opened in August 2011.
