Hyatt to Develop Downtown Extended-Stay Hotel

Developers sought to reassure residents that the proposed hotel would be a good neighbor and would not attract students as guests.

Developers of a proposed extended-stay downtown hotel told a public audience Wednesday that it will be part of the Hyatt chain, according to an article in Evanston Now. They also sought to reassure residents that it would not cause undue noise or be populated by students.

The eight-story hotel at 1515 Chicago Ave could be completed by September 2015, if all permit requests are granted, the article states. Room rates would start at $100 a night, making it highly unlikely that students would stay there.

An earlier Evanston Now story discussed how some neighbors were concerned that the hotel would draw "transient academics."
