New Daycare, Boutiques, Gallery Open in Evanston

A custom wedding dress designer and a restaurant specializing in grilled cheese opened in downtown Evanston, while a gallery moves in on Howard Street.

Bright Horizons Moves in Downtown
Providing childcare and early education, Bright Horizons has locations around the country. Construction wrapped up this summer at a new center in Evanston, located right downtown at 1629 Orrington Ave. A ribbon cutting is set for Sept. 17.

Hires Local Kids
A new tutoring center held its grand opening this Saturday. Working with the Youth Job Center, Peer2Peer Tutors has hired more than a dozen students from , and . Programs will include one on one tutoring, SAT classes and college essay assistance. Tutors come to students' homes.

Cheesie’s Opens Soon On Davis
The Lakeview restaurant famous for its creative grilled cheese sandwiches is opening a second location in Evanston. Patch spotted a “Coming Soon” sign at the new storefront on Davis Street between Chicago and Orrington. The Lakeview menu includes such mouthwatering selections as “The Mac” with American cheese, cheddar cheese and homemade macaroni, and “The Napoleon,” with cheddar cheese, bleu cheese crumbles, tater tots, bacon and hot sauce.

Avail & Company Sells Custom Wedding Dresses
Designer Rachel Alvia has opened a storefront at 1106 Davis Street for the custom wedding dress business she has run out of her home in Poplar Grove since 2010. Alvia designs wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride dresses and more based on her customer’s ideas.

Owner Sara Jane’s lifelong dream of opening a boutique to sell her handmade jewelry creations has come true at 817A Chicago Ave. Her designs are characterized by lots of color and, of course, plenty of sparkle.
