Envy Women's Boutique Opens Downtown

A new women's boutique, Envy, opened at 522 Davis St. on Thursday, Sept. 26, and will hold a grand opening sometime in October. With locations in Kansas and Missouri, the chain sells L.A.-inspired clothing, and all items are under $40. 

Sam’s Auto Repair & Body Shop Opens New Location on Main
The 43-year-old, family-owned and operated business has moved to a new location at 2311 Main St. 

Skylight Event Center Opens at Heartwood

Heartwood Center for Body Mind Spirit has opened an event space called Skylight at its 1818 Dempster St. location. An official ribbon cutting was held Monday, but residents are invited to drop by for a tour of the space any time. Skylight will be available for parties, ceremonies, workshops, classes and more. 

Margarita European Inn Remodeling Interior

The Margarita European Inn, 1566 Oak Ave., is installing all new amenities while retaining as much of the original 1927 woodwork as possible.  

Pure Barre Officially Opens With Ribbon Cutting

The new dance and fitness studio at 910 Church St. officially opened its doors Thursday with a ribbon cutting. "We are thrilled to bring Pure Barre to Evanston," franchise owners Susanna Johnson and Emma Pollert said in a press release. "There is something for everyone at Pure Barre, and we invite all to come see us in our studio." 

La Macchina Cafe Will Open On Oct. 14

Motorcycles hanging from the ceiling, free bar bites and house-made tortellini stuffed with seasonal squash are just a few of the draws at La Macchina Cafe, which will open at 1620 Orrington Ave. on Oct. 14. Owned by Evanston residents Chris Casas and Marco Ferrarini, the restaurant will offer grab-and-go pastries and coffee drinks in the morning along with European-style breakfasts.

Uber Taxi Service is Coming to Evanston

Uber, a new on-demand, smartphone-friendly taxi service recently launched in Evanston in its first expansion into the Chicago suburbs. The company is offering free rides to anyone coming from or going to Evanston through Oct. 20. Enter promo code EVANSTON for one free UberBLACK ride, up to $40. The trip must begin or end in Evanston.
