Updated Wed. 4:45 p.m.

According to Chicago Eater, you don't have to wait til next week to try out Pecking Pig. The brewpub is having its soft opening Thursday.

Original story

Mark your calendars for the grand opening of Peckish Pig’s brewpub on March 20. The Howard Street restaurant and brewery announced the date on its Facebook page Tuesday.

The 9,000-square-foot space at 623 Howard St. is owned by Debbie and Jamie Evans, who previously helped run the Celtic Knot. Debbie Evans, who was also a co-owner, sold her stake in that restaurant to business partners last year.

Peckish Pig will feature beers brewed on site and small plates meant for sharing.

Peckish Pig, along with the opening of Temperance Beer and Smylie Bros, are creating a new craft beer scene in Evanston. You can read more about the three spots here.

Mildred.....in this case it happens to be a very good use of tax dollars....or would you prefer the old Howard St. full of drug addicts, thugs and whores. If you want to talk about questionable use of tax dollars how bout the $625K that went into the Waffle and Chicken place.
