Spin the Black Friday Circle

Great bands offering special releases. Get 'em at local record stores on Friday.

Forget elbowing the huddles masses at big box stores. Why not nudge your way into the crates at the area's record stores for Record Store Day's Black Friday?

Friday's event is an offshoot of the popular annual Record Store Day, in which bands offer special limited releases for a one-day sale at records stores across the nation. Check out the official list of releases, attached as a PDF (click image on the right).

Evanston's only independent record store that sold both new and used CDs, Dr. Wax, closed up shop a while ago. However, there's still a big selection at . Plus, is opening at midnight to celebrate Black Friday.

What else can you find in second hand music bins? Will it be an Iron & Wine release? A four-LP Janis Joplin box set? John Lennon music? A Nirvana rarity? Phish's legendary White Tape? All of the above? None of the above but something equally great?

You'll just have to show up and find out...
