Uber, a new on-demand, smartphone-friendly taxi service is launching in Evanston starting on Wednesday in its first expansion into the Chicago suburbs, according to an article in the Daily Northwestern.
Uber, which started offering its service in Chicago two years ago, lets people order up a taxi from an app on their phone and pay for it with a credit card number pre-loaded to their account.
The company is offering free rides to anyone coming from or going to Evanston through Oct. 20, according to the Daily Northwestern article.
A representative from the company explained how the free rides will work: Enter promo code EVANSTON for one free UberBLACK ride, up to $40. The trip must begin or end in Evanston.
Uber chose to start its suburban service in Evanston because it had the most requests from customers for this area.
