VERY surprised not to see Lupita's Mexican Restaurant on the list. We go there almost every week. The food is great as are the people. Also, wonderful live music on Friday and Saturday nights. If you haven't been there I urge you to check it out. Campagnola was good last time I was there. It's been awhile though as I see it as a special occasion place. Lou's is always good, though I'm disappointed that they discontinued the mini corn dogs. My son really loved them. Bat 17 also reliably good with good service. I have not been to any of the others.

Just ate at Found. Absolutely should be on top 10.

haven't been to Campagnola for yrs, but absolutely agree on the Cellar-every time we take someone there they have been absolutely delighted; looking forward to Found and the Creparie

Not fine dining, but Joy Yee's and Buffalo Joe's should be on the list.

Dave's Italian Kitchen!

I would not leave out The Lucky Platter, Dixie Kitchen and Dozika. All have excellent food, friendly service and are not expensive.

I believe that Dixie Kitchen and Al's deli should be on the list. Thanks.

I'd have to second this with Koi and Lupita's. Of course it doesn't explain the details of Tops for what exactly. I'd throw Dave's Italian Kitchen in there too. Barb's always the best hostess there too.

Lucky Platter is one of the BEST all around restaurant in Evanston! Breakfast, lunch or dinner: food is always fresh, delicious and reasonably priced!

When I just did the search on Yelp, I got very different results than you. From what I can tell you did a keyword search for restaurants and then sorted by highest rating. When you run the search by "category = restaurants" and sort by highest rating, you get a different Top 10 list. http://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=restaurants&find_loc=Evanston%2C+IL%2C+USA#l=p:IL:Evanston::&show_filters=1&sortby=rating

Found is a delicious addition to Evanston's restaurant offerings. And a cozy atmosphere, too!

Evanston Eastsider I did that also. Several of restaurants showing on top TEN here were much further down on list one was 46th

Interesting point. Thank you for sharing this list! In order, that's Ward Eight, Jamba Juice, Delbe's Corner, Brothers K, Campagnola, The Stained Glass, Old Neighborhood Grill, Quince, Lou Malnati's and Edzo's Burger Shop.

Why should I add my favorite restaurants to Yelp? I don't think any of my faves are in danger of going out of business, so the help they'd get from a high rating on Yelp would be minimal. It would just make them more crowded...
Tony March 26, 2013 at 06:14 AM
Taco Diablo on Davis now has the best Mexican food in Evanston. Found also a great addition. Edzo's is also amazing.

Bat 17 is absolutely my favorite dining destination in the Chicago area. I am in town on a regular basis and never miss an opportunity to dine there with business associates or friends! The service and food are second to none! It is the BEST!

Glad to see Campagnola at #1. Soulwich should NOT be on this list! What should've been on the list: Edzo's, Dozika's, and Siam Splendour.

This is what is called a Foo Foo list of Foo Foo restaurants.

Well... there is definitely one glaring omission; Union Pizzeria. The busiest & best place in town for the last five years running.

Missing Tapas Barcelona voted best top ten on the northshore. Plus in reagard to Pizza , Giordanos owns this town like the Bears. So much better than Lou`s. I bring visitors from around the world and they insist on having Giodanos deep pan or else.

Definitely Koi is one. Kansaku is another. We live in downtown Evanston (walking distance to Malnotti's and Giordano's) and we drive to Magianni's in Skokie for Italian, esp. pasta. And isn't Soulwich closed after a brief life in Evanston?

Any list that doesn't have Oceanique or Chef's Station on it, and doesn't at least offer an honorable mention to Lupita's and Trattoria DOC, hasn't been sufficiently researched, IMHO.
Mike Kreuser December 29, 2013 at 04:02 PM
There are so many good restaurants in Evanston, and so many differing tastes, a top 10 list cannot be all inclusive. I could find fault with any list that didn't include Edzo's or Dave's Italian Kitchen, but know that they are on MY top 10. Oceanique is an experience, and may not be everybody's cup of tea.
