Evanston Resident Co-Authors Article in "Illinois Bar Journal"

Andrew W. Vail and Evanston resident Tiffany M. Cartwright, a partner and associate, respectively, with Jenner & Block, Chicago office, are the authors of “Using Juror Questions During Trial to Your Advantage: Practice Tips for Illinois Supreme Court Rule 243,” an article which appears in the December 2013 issue of the Illinois Bar Journal, the monthly magazine of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

Illinois Supreme Court Rule 243, which became effective on July 1, 2012, allows jurors to submit written questions to witnesses in civil trials, which is having an impact on civil trials in Illinois state courts. In the article, the authors provide tips for addressing new Rule 243 based on interviews with judges and attorneys who have participated in trials where jurors asked questions of witnesses during the past year.

The 32,000-member ISBA (isba.org), with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public through a website (illinoislawyerfinder.com), consumer brochures, and distribution of legal information.
