It’s not only that the Hadassah House Resale Shop brings quality clothing, furniture and housewares to the people of the Chicago-North Shore area, or that proceeds benefit ground-breaking medical research in Israel.
The Resale Shop also offers opportunities for community service, as a place to donate and re-purpose items no longer needed. The store also serves as a venue for volunteers, from those who have extra time to lend a helping hand to youngsters who need to complete bar/bat mitzvah projects.
Now the iconic Resale Shop is moving to Deerfield, Ill., as Hadassah officers are proud to announce the store’s new home at 405 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield Plaza. The store will open at its new location at 12 noon Sunday, Jan. 19.
“After operating successful resale shops in both Skokie and Highland Park for over 35 years, I am thrilled to see those stores relocating to one location in Deerfield,” said Michele Rubin, Hadassah Chicago-North Shore Chapter president. “Hadassah is proud to provide this service to the community for both donors who want to dispose of still usable items and for our customers who want quality gently used merchandise at an outstanding price. This is a very exciting time for us.”
Judy Falk, chair of the Resale Shop Committee, added that the store’s staff would be happy to arrange pick-up of any donations of furniture or household accessories – a convenience for anyone who is down-sizing their home or has the difficult task of handling such items after a recent loss.
“Donating possessions that are no longer needed is a way to ensure that those items will be treasured by someone else,” Falk said.
