Keeping Business Local
As a member of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, I recently attended one of the monthly networking events that often happen at new businesses established in town. This particular event was at the Bradley Investment Center on Central Street and during the owner’s introduction it became apparent how good a new business coming to Evanston is for existing businesses here. So I asked Dale Bradley if he would send me the list of companies he mentioned that were necessary to open his business and he did:
Schermerhorn & Co, 2737 Central St – assisted in the purchase of our building at 3000 Central St

Flader Plumbing, 3004 Central St - updated bathrooms, heating and air conditioning systems
Central Rug & Carpet, 3006 Central St – installed new flooring
State Farm, 1800 Central St – provided business and building insurance
Apelian Carpets, 2900 Central St - provided the front entrance carpet “runner”
The Printed Word, 1805 Central St – is the source for all the company’s stationary, business cards, etc
Foodstuffs, 2106 Central St – caters events and I must say, the sandwich trays were delicious
Tags Bakery, 2010 Central St – supplies desserts
Great Harvest Bread Co, 2126 Central St – provides sandwiches and food for the company’s lunch seminars
Mille Fiori, 1943 Central St – provides fresh cut flowers and plants
True Value, 2912 Central St – has everything from light bulbs to fixtures, etc
Of course, the company’s purchases are not restricted to businesses on Central Street only as they noted to me. But I think this is a great example of Keeping Business Local - Why a new Evanston Business is Good for Evanston Businesses
