Model Opens, First Move-ins Underway at Central Station in Evanston

The first residents of Central Station, a new-construction luxury apartment community in Evanston, moved in this month, announced Chicago-based RMK Management Corp. A furnished, two-bedroom model apartment is also now available to tour.

Located at 1720 Central Street, steps from the Central Street Metra station, Central Station includes 80 apartments, 81 parking spaces and more than 10,700 square feet of street-level retail. The residences range from studio to three bedroom plans and measure 590 to 1,485 square feet. Rent starts at $1,415 a month. The four-story building is the only new-construction luxury rental available in popular Central Street corridor, which was recently named one of the Top 10 Great Neighborhoods in the U.S. by the American Planning Association.

“Welcoming the first residents to a new community is one of the most exciting milestones of a development. We love seeing it go from blueprints to being ‘home,’” said Anthony Rossi, Sr., president of RMK Management Corp. “But our residents are just as excited. Many had signed their lease well before construction was complete, so they have enjoyed getting to see their completed apartments for the first time.”

All homes at the LEED-certified Central Station feature stainless steel Energy Star appliances, quartz countertops and custom backsplashes in the kitchen; hardwood flooring in the living and dining areas; data wiring; a computer niche, per plan; and a full-sized washer and dryer. Most homes also include a Juliette balcony or patio.

The furnished model apartment is a two-bed, two-bath plan measuring 1,180 square feet.

“While we had a great response during pre-construction leasing with roughly 30 percent of the apartments reserved, we anticipate leasing to continue at an even more brisk pace now that we have the model open,” Rossi noted. “Renters can see for themselves the condo-quality finishes in the units.”

Central Station also offers a host of upscale amenities such as a fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment; a cyber lounge with a coffee bar, LCD flat screen televisions, computers and printers, and several seating areas; a common outdoor terrace with a green roof; a bicycle room; package receiving, dry cleaning drop-off service, and complimentary Wi-Fi access in all common areas. The on-site parking will also include one space for a Zipcar, available to residents through Zipcar’s membership program.

“The variety of floor plans, universally-appealing amenities, and desirable location of Central Station has attracted a variety of residents,” Rossi said. “We have families looking for the sense of community and good schools; professionals seeking proximity to the city and surrounding suburbs; and downsizers drawn to the laid-back yet vibrant neighborhood. It’s a very dynamic community with a great deal to offer.”

Residents will be only one block from a Metra stop and less than a half mile from a CTA Purple Line stop. Additionally, the building is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants along Central Street, numerous parks, recreation activities, Northwestern University’s Ryan Field and Evanston Hospital. The building is also approximately one mile from Lake Michigan and Gross Point Lighthouse Beach, and the Evanston Arts Center.
