Professionally facilitated sessions offer education and support for expecting and new parents
Ohana -- a new complete resource for education and support in the year before and after birth -- is hosting its next six-week Mom & Baby Group starting Monday, January 20 and six-week Childbirth and Parent Prep starting Sunday, February 9, both at 2956 Central Street in Evanston.
The professionally facilitated Mom & Baby Group helps new moms meet others at the same stage of parenting as they are. Experienced Ohana staff provides expertise on topics including breastfeeding, sleep, emotional health, changes in identity, roles as new parents and other topics.

During Childbirth and Parent Prep, expecting parents can connect with others at the same stage of pregnancy and walk away prepared for labor and delivery and for the first year at home (as much as one can get ready in advance!). The cozy class size helps facilitators truly get to know participants and arm each individual with the specific knowledge and support he/she needs.
After six years of working closely with expectant and new parents as a doula, Ohana founder Jocelyn Alt realized that many of her clients were experiencing a great deal of stress and uncertainty during their pregnancies and new parenthood, and that existing resources were inadequate.

She created the company to help fill that gap and leveraged her experience to develop Ohana’s service offering, which also includes doula and concierge services.
Registration for both the Mom & Baby Group and Childbirth and Parent Prep are available on the Ohana website.
