YWCA Evanston/North Shore seeks nominations for 2014 YWomen Leadership Awards
The YWCA Evanston North Shore is calling for nominations for the 2014 YWomen Leadership Awards.
The YWomen Leadership Awards Benefit was created in 2008 to recognize, support, and honor women from Evanston and sixteen neighboring North Shore communities for their commitment to women’s empowerment, racial justice and social activism. The YWomen Benefit, held in October, has grown to be a highly anticipated event, drawing an audience from all parts of the North Shore.

A total of four awards are presented each year – two are given to women who through research, activism, education or creative expression have improved the lives of women and/or addressed the impact of racial inequities. In addition, the Lorraine Morton Woman of Promise Award, is presented to a woman who embodies the mission of the YWCA and who has already demonstrated leadership potential in her young career. A fourth YWomen award recognizes an organization or project that has been a vital community partner in furthering racial justice and women’s empowerment.
