UPDATE: Bomb Casualty's Family Says Incident Was Suicide

Colin Dalebroux's family says the bomb explosion Tuesday in Evanston was a suicide.

UPDATE:

Evanston Police Commander Tom Guenther confirmed that Colin Dalebroux "had mental health issues," and said there is no immediate danger to the public after a pipe bomb explosion Tuesday morning that rocked an Evanston neighborhood.

Guenther said the department would like to extend their sympathy to Dalebroux's father, who gave the police department permission to talk with his son's mental health providers.  He said Dalebroux acted alone.

EARLIER:

The family of Colin Dalebroux has said in a written statement that his death in a pipe bomb explosion Tuesday morning was a suicide.

"We are devastated that our beloved son, Colin Dalebroux, lost his 15 year battle with depression. We know that Colin committed suicide," the statement read.

Dalebroux's body was found Tuesday morning in Fitzsimmons Park.  Police found and later detonated a second pipe bomb near the scene.

Soon after, police searched Dalebroux's Main Street apartment and looked through his computer to find information on a possible motive.

The Madison, Wisconsin Police Department said they had two "non criminal contacts" with Dalebroux in June 2009 but would not elaborate on what happened in each case.
