Commission on Aging to present "Understand Today's Hospital Experience"

A notice from the city of Evanston.

From the city of Evanston:

The Evanston Commission on Aging is sponsoring “Understand Today’s Hospital Experience,” a free presentation explaining how a stay in the hospital has changed. It will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave., Evanston.

Because Commission on Agingmembers want residents to be informed, prepared and proactive about a future hospital stay for themselves or a loved one, they have scheduled three expert speakers. The speakers and their topics are: Dr. David Lovinger, Director of the Division of Hospital Medicine, who will address hospitalist activities within the hospital; Mary Ellen Mitchell, Senior Director Care Management/COC (Continuum of Care), who will focus on discharge planning, observation status, and social work within a hospital setting; and Dr. Margaret Thomas, MA, MD, Associate Medical Director Palliative Care and Hospice Services, who will speak to hospice versus (and/or) palliative care.

There will be time for questions and answers following each speaker’s presentation. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free and reservations are not required. For more information, please call the Levy Senior Center at (847) 448-8250.
