Former ETHS Student Shot, Killed on South Side of Chicago

Blake Ross, 20, died from multiple gunshot wounds Sunday, May 12, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He was a former ETHS student and had lived in Evanston, authorities said.

Former Evanston Township High School student Blake Ross, 20, was shot and killed on the far south side of Chicago early Sunday morning, according to multiple authorities. 

Ross, who lived in the 2300 block of Greenwood Street in Evanston, died of multiple gunshot wounds at 3:55 a.m. May 12, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was killed in the 2800 block of E. 76th Street in Chicago, near Rainbow Beach Park.

Officials announced his passing over the PA system at Evanston Township High School Tuesday morning and called for a moment of silence, according to a spokesperson for the high school. Students were also offered grief counseling services.

Ross was found lying unresponsive on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body, according to a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department. He was transported to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

No one has been taken into custody, and Chicago Police are currently investigating his death.
