Free Canning Workshops at Evanston Farmers Market

Canning projects will be succulent jellies and jams in June, fiesta salsa in July and baby food and pickled veggies in August.

 

Whether you are an experienced home canner or a first-timer, you could discover new recipes at free canning workshops at Downtown Evanston Farmer’s Market, located at University Place and Oak Avenue.

Free workshops will be held at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the following six Saturdays from June to August:

  • June 8 and 29 – Succulent jellies and jam canning projects
  • July 6 and 27 – Fiesta salsa canning projects
  • August 3 and 17 – Baby food and pickled veggies canning projects

“This program will inspire people to find a healthy, new passion that they can share with others," Market Manager Myra Gorman said in a statement. "Canning is a great way to capture the bounty of healthy fruits and vegetables that we will be craving next winter. It’s also a wonderful way to support the dozens of farmers who supply produce to the Downtown Evanston market.”

Parking is free at the adjacent 1800 Maple garage with ticket validation at the City of Evanston tent.
