Gunfire Reported On Florence Avenue

Police investigated a report that someone had fired a gun in the 1100 block of Florence Avenue at 10:28 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7. Nothing was found in the area.

Arrests: DUI, Violation of Protection Order

Abdi Sharif Ahmed, 23, of the 6300 block of North Whipple Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 2:03 a.m. in the 2200 block of Church Street, police reported.

An 18-year-old Skokie resident was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Evanston Police Station, according to police. 

Man Asks to Borrow Phone, Steals It

A man asked to borrow a phone, then ran off with it on the grounds of Evanston Township High School at 5:04 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, police reported.

Man Steals Purse From Unlocked Car

A man stole a purse from an unlocked 2003 Mazada parked in an apartment lot in the 700 block of Mulford Street at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, according to police. 

Woman Steals Fleece From Dryer

A woman stole a pink North Face jacket from the dryer at a Laundromat in the 700 block of Howard Street between Sunday, Feb. 3, and Thursday, Feb. 7, according to police. 

Thief Steals Cell Phones From Locker

Someone stole an 32GB Apple iPhone 4, a 16GB Apple iPhone 4 with black Otterbox case and a 32GB Apple iPhone 4 from an unlocked gym locker in the 1000 block of Grove Street between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, according to police. 

Copper Downspouts Stolen From Church

Someone stole copper downspouts from a church in the 2500 block of Ashland Avenue between 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, and 2 p.m.
