Evanston drivers can expect light flurries through evening rush hour, city officials say.
Up to ½ inch of snow is predicted to fall before 7 p.m. tonight, according to James Maiworm, superintendent of streets and sanitation.
City officials began salting streets and sidewalks early in the day in preparation for the snow, which began as rain around lunchtime.
Maiworm said temperatures are predicted to drop all day, to about 28 degrees during rush hour and continuing into the teens overnight.
The National Weather Service predicts that there could be more flurries in Evanston on Thursday, when temperatures will likely be in the teens. More snow is possible on Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
