The new book, 'The Casual Vacancy,' is to be released later this week.

While both bookstores say they'll have plenty of copies, they encourage those who want to ensure they get a copy this week, to call and reserve one ahead of time.

If you’re looking to check the book out from the Evanston Public Library, Head of Adult Services Lesley William says you might be in for a wait.

The library will have nine copies, but many residents already have reserved those copies.

“It looks like we have about 40 holds,” William said.

The new book by the creator of Harry Potter is aimed at a grown-up audience.

More than 2 million hardcover copies of her first novel are set to be released simultaneously in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Germany.

According to USA Today, the story is set in the little English town of Pagford, and revolves around an election held after a member of the parish council unexpectedly dies. Despite the Miss Marple terrain, press materials describe The Casual Vacancy  as "blackly comic … Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war."
