Why Review Sites are for Unhappy People!

Don’t you hate Review Sites that are cluttered with Ads and Negative Reviews?

I know I do. I’m sorry but I really don’t need to read an essay on how much you hated your waiter.

Often times review sites such as yelp create a platform for diners to rant and rave about their horrible restaurant experiences. I feel that I see more negative reviews than positive ones. These reviews lack true genuine commentary about the quality of food or what the restaurant has to offer.

Before I go to a restaurant there are several questions I would like to be answered. The NUMBER one question for me is, Is the food good? Followed by what should I get? What do you recommend? How are their prices? How’s the service? Should I make a reservation? and tons of other questions that I’m sure can’t be answered in one review.

Anyways, all I’m saying is that we need more genuine reviews that offer valuable information. I am not saying that diners shouldn’t know if a restaurant needs to improve their service, but I believe that this can be done in a more tactful, constructive, and effective way. I think it is important for diners and restaurant owners a like to get constructive feedback but there is a way to do it. Let’s say you had bad service. Maybe instead of saying “I hated this place the service sucked”, say “I think the food was awesome but if you are in a hurry this is not a place for you to go. My experience would be more enjoyable if they moved a little quicker”. In this review I know that the food at least is good but I will probably have to wait, which to some people is okay.

This issue is one of the reasons why I created Evanston eats. I wanted to highlight what good eats Evanston had to offer. I try to stay away from the negativity. I also don’t like reading long essays. I like my reviews to be short and sweet and filled with tons of pictures.
