27th Annual Spring Brunch & Fashion Show benefiting Chicago House

CHICAGO, IL – This spring will be clear, bright and full of life! Chicago House, the
first organization in the Midwest to provide housing and support for people living with
HIV and AIDS, is excited to celebrate its 27th Annual Spring Brunch and Fashion
Show at the Harold Washington Library! On Sunday, May 4th
join Chicago House for “VIVID,” featuring a three-course brunch, silent auction and
fashion show headlined by local Chicago boutiques and student fashion designers from
Columbia College!
Held in the beautiful Winter Garden Ballroom at Chicago’s Harold Washington Library,
Chicago House CEO Stan J. Sloan and Co-Chairs Ross Slotten, Ted Grady and Mallory
Ulaszek wanted to kick off spring brilliantly! “The theme this year is VIVID. The very
definition of the word says it all…producing powerful feelings or strong, clear images in
the mind,” says Special Events Manager Mark Pino. “Guests can expect this event to be
evocative, authentic, colorful and dramatic!”
With over 400 expected attendees, guests will enjoy a three-course gourmet brunch by
Jewell Events Catering, sip on Reyka Vodka, Hendricks Gin and Solerno Blood Orange
Liqueur cocktails and shop a fantastic 100-item silent auction! Guests can also purchase
flowers at the one-of-a-kind “Flower Market,” a favorite attendee pastime at this event.
The market will feature a variety of over 60 fresh floral arrangements from 6 different
local floral designers, all sold to benefit Chicago House.
The runway show will headline with spring 2014 looks from local boutiques Roam and
Cram, plus feature a small showcase of work from Columbia College Chicago's Fashion
Studies program.
The organization will also present its annual Spirit Award to Illinois State
Representative, Naomi Jakobsson, who co-sponsored legislation to allow same-sex
marriage in Illinois. “As an LGBTQ founded organization and service provider, we
are humbled by the generosity of spirit that Rep. Jakobsson has shown to the LGBTQ
community and honored that she will join us at this year’s event,” says Chicago House
CEO Stan J. Sloan. “Her extraordinary commitment to civil rights was demonstrated
, from 12 – 3:30 p.m.,
when she made the difficult decision to leave the bedside of her gravely ill son to travel to
Springfield and vote in support of the marriage equality bill.”
