A Year of August Wilson at EPL: Gem of the Ocean

Monday, March 10, 6 pm, Community Meeting Room, Main Library

Set in 1904, young Citizen Barlow, traveling north like many others in the years after the Civil War, arrives in Pittsburgh in search of purpose, prosperity, and redemption. A woman named Aunt Ester, who is rumored to be 285 years old and possess healing powers, decides to help the young man on his life’s journey. Join artists from Fleetwood Jourdain Theatre and the Chicago theatre community to read aloud and discuss plays from the August Wilson "Century" Cycle. Actress Jacqueline Williams will moderate the March discussion. Copies of Gem of the Ocean will be held at the 2nd floor Reader's Services desk, call 847-448-8620 or register online. Part of 11 Months of African American History series.

Can't make it by 6? Join us for an extended, informal discussion starting at 7:30 at the Celtic Knot, 626 Church Street, right across from the Library.
