The ESO is

also joined by the acclaimed North Shore Choral Society and the Evanston

Children’s Choir. All three groups will combine to perform the Christmas at Home Medley by local

composer James Stephenson.

Other highlights

include the North Shore Choral Society in A

Feast of Carols
by Randol Bass, the Evanston Children’s Choir singing Vaughan

Williams, the ever popular Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson and “Waltz of the

Flowers” from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker,

and the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.

This year we

add yet another exciting feature—a festive Holiday Bazaar.  Local artisans from Evanston’s Homegrown

Artists and other local businesses will be selling Christmas gift items before

and after the Concert—as well as during the Intermission.  The Bazaar is conveniently located in the

Michael Cafeteria at ETHS, and admission to the shopping area is free.

The Christmas concert is the largest

indoor performance event in Evanston, featuring the 100 musicians of the

Evanston Symphony, more than 120 singers from the North Shore Choral Society,

the children from the Evanston Children’s Choir, and the dancers of the

Evanston Dance Ensemble, whose Dancing Reindeer will add jazz and tap dancing

to the celebration.

Singers from

the ETHS A Cappella Chorale, under the direction of Mary Theresa Reed, will

entertain before the concert and at intermission. And of course, the audience will be

invited to join Santa and his elves for a sing-a-long of favorite holiday

carols.

This is the

ninth year for this spectacular event, which annually attracts audiences of

more than 1,000.   Tickets are priced at

$25 for adults and $10 for children with a special discounted family package

available. Tickets in a reserved preferred seating area are also available.

Information is available on-line at www.evanstonsymphony.org

and at 847.864.8804.
