Concert: Dave Davies Of The Kinks @ SPACE

The legendary Dave Davies of the legendary Kinks comes dancing with a concert at SPACE this Tuesday night at 8.

Dave was born in London 66 years ago, but he'll feel right at home since this will be at least his fourth local concert since July 27. (1 private & 3 public)

Dave is promoting his 2013 solo album "I Will Be Me" that sounds like a declaration of independence; by comparison, the last Kinks studio album was "Phobia" 20 years ago featuring the great "Hatred (A Duet)" sung by the famous feuding brothers Dave & Ray.

Some of the great "Dave" songs are: Dear Margaret - Death Of A Clown - Free Me - Hold My Hand - Is It Any Wonder - Is This The Only Way? - Lincoln County - Little Green Amp - Livin' In The Past - Livin' On A Thin Line - Love Me Till The Sun Shines - Party Line - Strangers - Susannah's Still Alive - This Man He Weeps Tonight - Trust Your Heart - Wait Till The Summer Comes Along - Where Did You Come From - You Don't Know My Name.

His first official solo album was Dave Davies "AFL1-3603" in 1980...AFL1-3603 might seem like an odd title, but it was a precursor to the Yes album "90125" in 1983 - both albums were named after their record company catalog number.

More recently - in 2005 - Dave released the great live album "Transformer" of solo & Kinks classics including: Bug - Dead End Street - Death Of A Clown - Father Christmas - Flowers In The Rain - It Ain't Over ('Till It's Done) - Livin' On A Thin Line - Picture Book - Rock You, Rock Me - Till The End Of The Day - Who's Foolin' Who - You Really Got Me.

Next year is the 50th anniversary of "You Really Got Me" and normally you wouldn't ask Dave the "reunion" question, but Dave says he and his brother Ray have talked about the possibility of a 2014 Kinks reunion tour consisting of themselves and special guests. Dave has several musical sons and there's talk that a Kinks reunion tour will feature some of his sons as new Kinks.

Dave Davies of the Kinks is in concert at 8 this Tuesday night at SPACE in Evanston.
