Discussion of life under occupation in Gaza

Please join the Untold Stories Project for a discussion about life under occupation in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine at the Evanston Public Library on Sunday March 9th.

We will be Skyping with Ayman Qwaider, a Palestinian community educator and peace activist in Gaza City. Ayman, 26, received his degree from the Islamic University of Gaza in 2008, after which he worked for two years as an international humanitarian aid worker. In 2010, Ayman was granted a scholarship to travel to Spain, where he received his master’s degree in Peace, Conflict and Development Studies. He currently works for a non-governmental organization in Gaza. Ayman’s comments will  focus on his own personal story of growing up in Gaza, his education abroad, his work at an NGO and life under the blockade of Gaza.

The conversation will be moderated by Rabbi Brant Rosen of Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston, co-chair of the Jewish Voice for Peace Rabbinical Council and the author of Wrestling in the Daylight: A Rabbi’s Path to Palestinian Solidarity.

About the Untold Stories Project

The Untold Stories Project promotes the telling of personal stories by people who have lived in regions of conflict, currently focusing on people who have lived in the West Bank, Gaza or Israel since 1967.
We are a group of people from a variety of spiritual and community groups in the Chicago area working together to implement the Untold Stories Project. Hosting institutions have included Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation, Lake Street Church, St. Nicholas Church, North Park University, Limmud-Chicago, Unitarian Church of Evanston, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
