EPL Teen Theater Performance: The Words of Dr. King, A Choral Chant

Monday, January 20, 3:30 pm, Lobby, Main Library

To celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. day, performers with the Loft at Evanston Public Library's teen theater troupe will perform an original devised piece based on the writings and speeches of Dr. King for the public. Drawing from texts like King's "Why We Can't Wait" as well as the "Mountaintop" speech and others, the performance will take the form of a "choral chant" arranged by teens and emphasizing themes of justice and democracy. It will also feature several elements of surprise for the audience. The piece - as yet untitled - will be performed 3 times on the half hour between 3:30 and 5:00 pm on January 20. First performance starts at 3:30 pm. No registration necessary.

*Teens participating in this project will be using A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr. as their source for Dr. King's words.
